Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has announced his run for U.S. Senate.
Schiff officially launched his campaign for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat.
Feinstein is 89 years old and has been in the Senate since 1992, so it’s likely she’ll retire after her current term.
Although Feinstein has filed paperwork to seek re-election in 2024, she has yet to announce her intentions.
With the addition of Schiff to the race, it appears to be a competitive Democratic primary.
However, Schiff reportedly received Feinstein’s “blessing” to run.
“I look forward to campaigning hard in this race, meeting Californians where they are, and listening to what they want from their next Senator. I hope to earn their votes and their trust,” Schiff said in a statement
