The Senate has just voted to add Sweden and Finland to NATO.
In the final tally, lawmakers overwhelmingly approved the two Nordic nations in a 95-1 vote.
Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri was the only Senator to vote against the ratification.
Hawley’s reason behind his vote was that he believes the United States should focus on China’s expansion instead of devoting more attention to NATO.
I welcome the Senate’s ratification of @NATO membership for Finland and Sweden. Finland and Sweden are longtime, stalwart partners, and I look forward to a quick and complete ratification by other NATO members as a commitment to Transatlantic security.
